Throughout the course of his work, cameron’s emphasis on empowerment and education has led him through a diverse range of opportunities.

His experience as a domestic and international educator range from professional creative and design workshops, to curriculum design and instruction in Uganda, to the creation and facilitation of Graduate and Undergraduate design classes at the University of Georgia.

Cameron’s passion for design and artistic expression, along with his strong skillset enables students and colleagues to engage their enthusiasm, grow their knowledge, and expand their abilities to shape the world around them.

Creation of innovative and interactive site grading pedagogy alongside site engineering skillsets and professional workflow practices. January 2017-2018

Development of curriculum combining graphic design implementation with design process thinking in specific placemaking projects. Teaching students to work alongside clients on real-life projects, apply their design skillset to develop and convey experiential branding concepts. Students were also equipped with new skills in SketchUp modeling and the workflow with this software and Adobe Illustrator.

Role:  Advanced Graphic Workshop Instructor

Design and creation of independent advanced graphic workshops covering SketchUp modeling & AutoCAD integration, Photoshop perspective rendering, and hand sketching with markers & watercolor. Students are taught key components to utilize these skills via professional work-flow between applications in real-time teaching sessions. 

 

CIDI Training Center For Gardening & Landscaping, Kampala, Uganda

August 2011- December 2012

Role:  Landscape Design Instructor

Creation and implementation of a (2) year curriculum for a vocational level landscape design program in Kampala, Uganda. Developed in partnership with the Ugandan Ministry of Education, this curriculum set up a new national certificate in vocational landscape design. These courses help to develop landscape design sensibilities, project management and implementation to post-high school Uganda and East African youth.

2023 University of Georgia, College of Environment and Design Lecture Series “Designing The Past”

Full length lecture given as part of the University of Georgia, College of Environment and Design 2023 Lecture Series “Designing The Past” in October 2023.

Cameron Berglund discusses the design and construction process behind the interactive “Georgia Plaza” he designed at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia. Cameron enjoys imparting lessons-learn from professional practice as well as exploring larger implications of design and landscape architecture’s role in social and natural contexts.

Cameron spent 2 years in Uganda, working with the ministry of education to create a landscape design curriculum that provided much-needed knowledge and expertise to post-high school Ugandan and East African students.

Cameron Berglund involved his UGA Environmental Graphic Design course in experiential learning while simultaneously conducting construction administration on the Alice H. RIchards Children’s Garden at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia. The students worked alongside Cameron and the real client to develop signage and wayfinding concepts for the garden.

Volunteering with non-profit organizations such as LOVE Guatemala has been a strong pursuit of Cameron’s career. Sharing enthusiasm and applicable skills, he has taught in a multitude of settings across 4 continents!

Along with full-time teaching at the University of Georgia’s College of Environment and Design, Cameron has led design and sketching workshops throughout the USA and abroad. He has taught professional SketchUp & Illustration workshops, site sketching, and painting workshops across all professional and student levels.
